SCAM ALERT Telephone Credit Card Theft
AS REPORTED BY VICTOR COHN AT MIZELL SENIOR CENTER (7.3.2000):
We have received several telephone calls reporting a new scam. Individuals
are telephoned and the caller states they are from VISA or MasterCard. The
caller then gives the first four numbers of your credit card and asks for
confirmation of the remainder of your account number. They even give you an
800 number to call back.TIPS FOR FRAUD PREVENTION:
DO NOT give your credit card to any unsolicited telephone caller. Immediately call your credit card company at their 800 number and report the telephone call. Remember, you are the first line of defense against unscrupulous scam artists!
